Looking Back - Round 4
We are now four rounds into the season and two rounds into the cup……So how are we fairing in comparison to previous years?
RESERVES
The reserve team has gotten away to its best start since at least 2002. Currently enjoying a start of three wins and the one loss against top of the table team, Lynwood Colts, the reserve team is on track to stifle a run which has seen them finish no higher than 8th since 2002. Having taken nine points from a possible twelve and conceding the second lowest amount of goals coupled with scoring the second highest amount of goals, the reserve team is sitting pretty in 3rd place (equal with Fremantle who are second with a superior goal difference)…..
The reserve team has also progressed to the third round of the cup, a feat that has not been achieved since 2002…..
A historical look at the reserve team after round four for past seasons follows:
| Season | Win | Draw | Loss | Final Placing | Final Points | Cup Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2007 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 8th | 32 | Eliminated 2nd round |

| 2002 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 9th | 23 | Eliminated Quarter Finals |
First Team
Since winning the premier league in 1999, the first team has had an interesting bag of results. The first team has managed to finish in the top four in six out of the last nine seasons, only once being threatened with relegation. The first team does not operate according to trends and has been relatively successful in turning around poor starts to the season, likewise failing to capitalise on strong starts to the season. Historically, the first team has taken the approach of one piece of silverware or the other, with early cup exists generally backed up by a strong league finish and vice versa……
The first team is no stranger to advancing to later stages of the cup, having featured in the quarter finals in five out of the past nine seasons. Unfortunately for the first team and Murdoch generally, the cup success of 2000 has not been repeated……………
