Murdoch
Murdoch reserves were keen to get over their cup exit the week before by gaining all 3 points from one of the leagues strongest clubs. Despite the position of Fremantles first team their reserves have not reached the same heights. Playing into a blustery wind Murdoch had the better of the play and began to assert themselves. A freekick about 30 metres to the left of the Fremantle area was expertly delivered by the player manager into the danger zone where Henriko bravely challenged the keeper and was rewarded with the rebound entering the net off his back. As in recent weeks Murdoch failed to buld on this lead and despite several promising attacks could not add to their tally. Fremantle began to look dangerous on the counter and from one of these attacks scored when the attacker lost his marker and manged to get a shot in that Stewart saved but the follow up was tapped in as Fremantle reacted quickest to the loose ball.
Buoyed by the goal Fremantle began to come into the game and misplaced pass in the centre of the Murdoch half was picked up and dispatched from distance for a fine finish. At half time changes were made with Jacob making his reserves debut in defence. The team were sent out with instructions to make sure that they gained something from the game and completetly dominated their opposition. The strike force of Henriko and Kudzi were excellent throughout despite the close and often illegal attentions of their markers. This attention seemingly obviously to all except the man with the whistle.
As time ticked away it looked as though Murdoch were going to fall short until a free kick awarded for a poor challenge on Kudzi was expertly placed beyond the keepers reach by the captain Blaz. This proved to be the last piece of action and was the least that Murdoch deserved.
